I have heard lots of opinions about my blog,
even the fact that I chose to share some really personal things through that blog.
I've been called brave. I've been called crazy. I have listened to people who were
deeply touched by what I've written, and people who have been offended and outraged.
But…
Like anyone else I too could keep the dark shades of my personality hidden,
I too could never speak of my vulnerabilities, the troubles in my life.
The messes and pain that I have endured. I could choose to only share the happy, joyous
things I face., I could keep the gory details of my divorce, health issues, and other
personal troubles to myself.
In fact, it’s rather convenient to present only the good, the strong, and the rosy aspects
of one’s life as is common on social media.
The trouble that kind of blog would pose for me was, that I can’t go through life believing that
the difficult and messy times, even more than the happy ones, aren’t meant to be learned
from. And not just for me, but for others.. In the midst of the trials of my life, I often find
myself looking up to the sky and crying “Why God? What am I supposed to be learning from
this? And why me?”
What I have come to realize though is sometimes the lesson is for me, but maybe just maybe,
sometimes it’s not. Every day our lives intersect with others, for me some through my blog. If
I hid my story, how could God use it to encourage others? To let them know they are not
alone.
No hiding the frustrations, no soaking up tears to pose as a strong person,
no airbrushed emotions. I want to portray the pain, joy, hurt, bitterness, despair, anger,
innocence, and everything in its true, unedited form.
I am very careful to share my pain. My story. I intentionally do not use names.
Honestly, I want people to read what I write and see their story in mine.
See that God is always working, even when we don’t feel it. I want you to read my story
and think “wow, what can I learn from this”, and “How can this change the
trajectory of where I am headed?”
My story is full of laughter, joy, pride, and love, and it is full of
sadness, trials, darkness, and tears.
: But. God...
Is gracious,
loving,
merciful,
faithful,
forgiving,
patient,
and..... He is not done writing my story!
So, here’s my story…
